Couples who go looking for Sweetheart Riverside Wedding Chapel in historic Downtown Sevierville usually have no trouble finding it. Located on the banks of the scenic Little Pigeon River, at the intersection of Highway 66 (Winfield Dunn Pkwy) and U.S. 441/411. this charming brick home turned wedding chapel welcomes its guests with a horse and carriage, a white limousine and a yellow vintage Model-A car, all of which are stationed on the gassy lawn.
Inside, features such as a marble fireplace and a gorgeous wall mural set the scene on the lower level; while separate bride and groom dressing areas upstairs can accommodate wedding parties large and small. Once the bride starts her procession down the stairs, both still and video cameras begin to capture the day's events as the couple's favorite music plays in the background and professional singers add a note of distinction to the proceedings.
"Our goal is to make every wedding the most special one," says owner Jim Chambers. "And we can make every wedding affordable, with a package for any budget."
In addition to the 50 seat indoor chapel, ceremonies can also be stage at the outdoor gazebo, where the virtually unlimited seating area is complemented by flagstone walkways and arches.
Sweetheart Riverside Wedding Chapel has several officiates on call who are able to perform both religious and civil ceremonies. Chambers himself has been performing weddings since the 1960's. A commissioned non-denominational chaplain, he is also a 32nd-degree Mason, a notary public and has a 50 year background as a professional Gospel singer. And as a veteran of the 82nd Airborne special troops, Chambers is always eager to offer a discount to military couples.
"Plus all our couples receive a complimentary horseback ride at Douglas Lake View Stables," he adds.
